I’m interested in a Red Rider Annual Pass, how can I apply for one?

The Red Rider Annual passes are available through our website for a limited time. We have a limited number of Red Rider Passes available so to guarantee a Red Rider Pass be sure to purchase one early! 

Are there any additional costs?

The Red Rider Annual Pass covers up to ten (10) return journeys per year with Rottnest Express for just $129.   The Rottnest Island landing fee of $18.50 (adult same day) or $24.50 (adult extended stay) is payable on each journey to Rottnest. 

The Rottnest Island Admission fee is collected on behalf of the Rottnest Island Authority and the Admission fee contributes to the conservation of the Island and the provision and upkeep of facilities.  All visitors entering the Rottnest Island A-class Reserve, are required to pay an admission fee. Visitors arriving by ferry pay this fee as part of their fare.

The Rottnest Island Admission fee is subject to change at the discretion of the Rottnest Island Authority and is not within the control of Rottnest Express as a carrier.

What happens after I purchase my Red Rider Pass?

Our customer service team will email you the following day to request you send through more information to create the Red Rider Passes. In your reply email you will need to include a copy of your proof of WA residency (ie; WA Drivers Licence) and a clear headshot, in jpg format, for each Red Rider Pass purchased.

Once you send the required information, please allow up to 7 days to process and create the Red Rider Passes. Though our customer service team will work as quickly as possible to create your Red Rider Passes so the passes may be ready sooner. Once the pass has been created our customer service team will email you to let you know that it is ready.

Your Red Rider Pass will automatically start 30 days after the purchase date so it is best to send through the information as quickly as possible to ensure you can make the most of your Red Rider pass.

How do I make each booking?

Once you have received your Red Rider Annual Pass, making a booking is easy. You can book online by following the simple instructions explained at www.rottnestexpress.com.au/redriderpass or by calling our reservations team on 1300 467 688 or by visiting a Rottnest Express terminal to book each individual journey.  Bookings must be made in advance for Red Rider journeys and are subject to seat availability.

Can I use my annual Red Rider pass to travel on special event days or during school holidays?

Yes, you can use your Red Rider for up to 10 (ten) return trips per year, on any day of the year, subject to seat availability. 

A Red Rider Annual Pass is eligible for use on all Fremantle to Rottnest services, however it is not a guarantee of a seat being available on each service. Booking are required for all journeys and we recommend booking well in advance for all event days, concerts and at peak travel times to secure your seat.

What about my children, is there a Red Rider pass for available for them?

The Red Rider Annual Pass is for adult tickets (aged 13 years or older).  However, Rottnest Express offers all WA children (12 years and younger) exclusive membership of our Quokka Club, which means up to two children can travel free with any paying adult (including adults utilising a red rider fare).   Plus, Quokka Club offers a host of other benefits for children.  Please refer to www.quokkaclub.com.au

How long is my pass valid for?

All Rottnest Express Red Rider passes are valid for one year from the date of original purchase. Red Rider Passes are unable to be extended past the expiry date so make sure you travel to Rottnest Island often.

Can I give my pass to a friend?

A Rottnest Express Red Rider Annual Pass is such a great value deal, that it’s valid for use by the named member only and therefore not transferable.  

A valid Red Rider Annual Pass card must be held when booking and must be presented at check-in to collect your boarding pass.  Rottnest Express also reserves the right to request an accompanying valid Photo ID for proof of address.  Any misuse can result in immediate cancellation of your Rottnest Express Red Rider Pass without refund.

What happens if I lose my card?

We understand these things happen. If you lose your card you will not lose your remaining journeys.  Due to the cost of re-printing personalised cards, a $10 replacement fee will apply for your card re-issue.

Can I use my Red Rider Annual Pass to travel from Perth to Fremantle?

Red Rider Annual Pass cards are only eligible for our Fremantle to Rottnest departures (B-shed and Northport) and return. 

As your Red Rider pass must be sighted at our office and your boarding pass collected, all trips must originate from either B Shed or Northport and travel to Rottnest.
