Snorkeling and Diving

The diversity of fish, coral species and shipwrecks in the waters surrounding Rottnest Island make it one of the most fascinating snorkelling destinations to be found in such close proximity to a capital city. A snorkel trail can be followed at Parker Point and there are also plaques on location at Kingstown Reef, with many other reefs around the Island offering great viewing opportunities.

10-minute flight around the island. Flights operate daily 10.30am till 3.30pm from the Rottnest Island Airport.

Rottnest Island Golf Course

Enjoy nine holes at one of the most unique golf courses in Western Australia. The course is at its best between May and November when it is invigrated by the seasonal rain. Clubs are available from Rottnest Bike Hire.

Rottnest Island Museum

Housed in the original hayshed and granary, the museum offers visitors a peek into the island's intriguing pas, from shipwrecks and colonial settlement to military and recreational history.


Some of the best surfing conditions in Western Australia are found around Rottnest Island. Strickland Bay, Salmon Bay and Stark Bay in particular are popular breaks for surfers and bodyboarders.

Rottnest Island is a very popular site for recreational fishing. Fishing gear can be hired or bought at Rottnest Adventure Centre, the General Store in Thomson Bay, and the Geordie Bay Store.
